Jake
Jake spent his last hours in the jail with Father O'Leary, his spiritual adviser, who stayed with him most of the day. He and another man prayed for themselves and for friends who had asked them to pray, and both ate a hearty supper. Jake was hanged on a scaffold on April 16, 1880, alongside one other man. A newspaper account reports that a large crowd gathered around the jail and along the route to the scaffold.
