Jackson Orukpete
Jackson Orukpete, 57, of Clarkston, died on December 27, 2022, while held at the DeKalb County Jail in Georgia. According to the sheriff's office, he was found unresponsive in his cell and was later pronounced dead by DeKalb EMS paramedics. The medical examiner had not released a cause of death, and the sheriff's Office of Professional Standards was reviewing the death. Reports differed on whether the Georgia Bureau of Investigation would examine it: the sheriff asked the GBI for an independent investigation, while a later report said the GBI declined. Officials said the death was unrelated to another death at the jail the previous day.
