Jack Trawick
Jack Trawick had been receiving psychiatric treatment for schizophrenia and psychotic disorders since he was eleven, and over roughly 25 years he went through medication, electroshock treatment, and hormone therapy. According to the Equal Justice Initiative, he did better in the controlled setting of Holman Correctional Facility, where he was held before the state executed him by lethal injection on June 11, 2009, at Holman in Atmore. The Alabama Department of Corrections records the execution as carried out by the state. The Equal Justice Initiative argues that executing people with severe mental illness is unjust and inhumane.
