Died in jail or a lockup
Jack Bradley Smith
Jack Bradley Smith, 40, of Morganton, died on August 23, 2022, while held at the Burke County Jail in North Carolina. Detention staff reportedly found him unresponsive in his cell during a routine check, and Burke County EMS arrived after staff had begun CPR. He was pronounced dead shortly after 7 p.m. The North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation is investigating the death.
