Jabari Betts
Jabari Betts, 47, was held at the West Valley Detention Center in Rancho Cucamonga, San Bernardino County, California. The San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department said deputies found him having a medical emergency in his cell, and that staff and Rancho Cucamonga Fire personnel responded before he was taken to a hospital, where he died on the morning of May 1, 2025. The department attributes the death to a pre-existing medical issue, and its Specialized Investigations Division is investigating; the manner of death has not been determined.
