J. E. Robinson
J. E. Robinson was a young man whom friends described as having an excellent character. In March 1889, officers were holding him near Texarkana, Arkansas, when a mob took him from them. A report the next evening said his body had been found hanging near a water tank a mile west of town, but investigators did not find any body, and no one would say they had seen it. His friends feared he had been killed, and the mob was reported to have claimed they had only flogged him.
