Ivan Earl Allen
Ivan Earl Allen, 69, was held at the Johnson County Jail in Texas in October 2011. His daughter, Bonnie Allen Thomas, says in a 2013 lawsuit against LaSalle Management Co. that he asked for a blanket because he was cold and was denied one, received only over-the-counter medication while an infection developed, and was not seen by medical staff until October 25. The lawsuit says he was later found unresponsive and diagnosed with sepsis and pneumonia, then transferred to hospitals, where he was declared brain dead and removed from life support. Thomas said the high fever left him with severe brain damage, so that he could not speak and was taking baby steps. The company and county deny the claims about the contract.
