Hyrum Smith
Hyrum Smith, the brother of Joseph Smith, was held with his brother in the Carthage jail in Hancock County, Illinois. On June 27, 1844, a mob stormed the jail and killed both men, according to newspaper reports. A news report says the men were shot to death by the mob.
