Hugh Simms
Hugh Simms was 18 when he died of tuberculosis on February 5, 1912, while a cadet at the Preston School of Industry in Ione, California. He had been born in Bakersfield and had come to the school in 1910. The Preston Review reported that he was a Catholic, that his funeral was held in the school chapel, and that the entire school attended and followed his remains to the cemetery. His pallbearers were chosen from his company, Company C.
Cause of death, as reported: Died of illness. The Preston Review reported that he died of tuberculosis.
