Executed
Holliday Wren
Holliday Wren was hanged at Pittsburg on November 11, 1886, before a crowd of about 5,000 people, according to a Raleigh, N.C. dispatch printed in the Wichita Eagle. He spoke briefly from the gallows, asking that his wife and two children be cared for, and told his brother to be careful of the company he kept. He said he had been wrongly prosecuted, as the dispatch reports it. The drop fell at 9:10, and the report says death was almost instantaneous.
Cause of death, as reported: Executed by the state
Reported by: Raleigh, N.C. dispatch (reporters).
