Holland Morefield Jr.
Holland Morefield Jr., 57, of Rockford, was held at the Winnebago County Jail in Illinois, where he was housed in a second-floor pod. Investigators say that on the morning of August 22, 2026, he climbed over a second-floor balcony railing and fell to the floor below, and he was taken to a hospital, where he died. The Winnebago County Coroner's Office said an autopsy found he died of blunt head trauma caused by the fall. The coroner's office and the Winnebago-Boone Investigative Cooperative are still investigating the death.
