Herman Wallace
Herman Wallace, 71, spent most of 42 years in solitary confinement at Angola prison in Louisiana. A court order freed him in late September 2013, and he went home to New Orleans for the first time since he was a young man. He died there of terminal liver cancer on October 4, 2013, days after his release. His lifelong friend Albert Woodfox, who was also held in solitary, remained at Angola.
