Herman Ashworth was held at the Southern Ohio Correctional Facility in Lucasville, Ohio, arriving there on September 26, 2005. Accounts of his last night describe him writing letters, listening to music, watching television, including Monday Night Football, and drinking Mountain Dew. He was put to death by lethal injection and declared dead the next morning, September 27, 2005. Prison logs record that he stayed awake through the night and was sobbing softly on his knees before the end.
