Herbert Brooks
Herbert Brooks was a Black British subject from the Bahama Islands. While being transported by train to Jacksonville, Florida, while in custody, he died after leaping from the train, according to an Associated Press report. After his body arrived from Ormond, more than 400 people from the Bahama Islands demonstrated, saying they believed a mob had killed him. An autopsy was reported to have found nothing of a sensational nature.
