Henry Wilson
Henry Wilson, a Black man, was hanged at Sumterville, Florida, in April 1902. The Washington Times reported that the execution came within days of his trial beginning. Large crowds gathered to watch, and officials had feared a lynching after an earlier attempt to seize him. The paper said the hanging passed without violence.
