Henry Sahmer
Henry Sahmer was being held in the jail at Cairo, Illinois, when a mob took him from the jail and lynched him. Sheriff Frank E. Davis of Alexander County allowed the mob to take him from custody. Governor Deneen removed the sheriff from office for allowing it.
