Henry Rodgers
Henry Rodgers was put to death by hanging at the Raymond Street Jail in Brooklyn, New York, as reported by The Sun in December 1872. Father McDonald, a priest, attended him and handled his burial arrangements at his request, and his former landlady, Mrs. Welch, and her family followed the funeral coaches to Calvary Cemetery. The paper reported that he swooned before the drop while the priest was giving the final prayers, and that about sixteen minutes later his body was lowered and placed in a plain coffin. Coroner Jones and a coroner's jury recorded that he came to his death from strangulation by hanging.
