Henry Boggs
Henry Boggs was being held by officers near Fort White, Florida, in November 1893, when a mob took him from them and shot him. Press reports sent from Live Oak, relaying accounts from Lake City, describe the killing, and say his body was treated brutally afterward, but these were secondhand accounts that could not be confirmed. The reports also named three other Black men who were held at the same time, and what became of them remains unknown. Some accounts say the captives escaped, but the Idaho County Free Press doubted this.
