Heather Smith
Heather Smith, 29, of Uhrichsville, had been released from the Stark County Jail and was walking along U.S. Route 62 in the early morning of July 7, 2012, when a driver veered off the road and struck her. Her family and friends grieved her, and her father, Craig Smith, was consulted by prosecutors. A police investigation report, cited by the defense attorney, classed her death as an accident, and the driver's attorney said he did not realize he had hit a pedestrian. A police report said the driver was distracted while adjusting the air conditioning.
