Hayden Schuck

22 years old · died May 6, 2022 · San Diego Central Jail, San Diego County, California

Hayden Schuck was 22, and his mother, Sabrina Schuck, described him as a suffering young man who needed an IV and detox, while his father, Tim Shuck, said the family is devastated. He died in March 2022, about six days after being booked into the San Diego County Central Jail. An autopsy found that he died of dehydration, and a Citizens Law Enforcement Review Board investigation found he did not receive critical medical care. His parents' federal lawsuit says he died of dehydration and untreated withdrawal that led to heart failure, and in September 2025 a judge ruled that a jury should decide whether the county is liable. The Sheriff's Department said it had not yet reviewed the board's recommendations, and the family's attorney disputes the board's finding that he obtained drugs in custody.
