Hathaway
Hathaway was in the sheriff's custody in Plainview, Minnesota, according to an Arizona Citizen editorial, when about fifty masked men took him from the sheriff and hanged him. The editorial says he was held after the shooting of a young woman, Nettie Slayton, but that charge is the paper's account and is not repeated here. The editorial praised the mob rather than questioning it.
