Guy Perez, 53, was held at Richard J. Donovan Correctional Facility, a California state prison in San Diego County, when he died on February 3, 2024. The California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation said he was attacked that day by two other men held there using makeshift weapons, and that staff used chemical agents to stop the assault.
