Griffey

Griffey, a man, was held overnight in a smith's shop in the Louisville area, guarded by two men. According to a Louisville dispatch reprinted in the Narragansett Herald, shots were fired through the windows during the night and he was shot in the brain. The dispatch does not name who fired the shots. He was held there after being taken into custody.

Cause of death, as reported: Killed by another person in custody. A Louisville dispatch reprinted in the Narragansett Herald says he was shot in the brain by gunfire through the windows of the shop where he was held overnight, without saying who fired the shots.
