Gregory Smith
Gregory Smith, 29, was held at Mack Alford Correctional Center in Stringtown, Oklahoma, when a fight broke out among four men in a day room on the night of Wednesday, July 13, 2016. The Oklahoma Department of Corrections said the men used homemade knives and that officers stopped the fight after a few minutes. Smith was pronounced dead at Mary Hurley Hospital in Coalgate, and three other men were treated for stab and cut wounds. The department opened an investigation, and officials had not released a motive for the fight or said whether the day room's overcrowding played a role.
