Gregory Miley
Gregory Miley, 54, was held at Mule Creek State Prison in Ione, California. The state corrections department said another person held there attacked him in an exercise yard two days before he died. Officials said he was examined and then returned to his cell, where he became unconscious about 90 minutes later, and he died at an outside hospital on May 25, 2016, after life support was removed. A state inspector general report issued days earlier had criticized medical care at the prison. The department said the attack is under investigation and could not say why it happened.
