Gregory Lamar Johnson, 53, came from Moody, Alabama. He had been held at the Jefferson County Jail for more than a year when, on August 9, 2026, he was found unresponsive in his cell and pronounced dead there. The Jefferson County Coroner's Office said the autopsy showed no sign of foul play. The cause of his death was still waiting on further laboratory studies.
