Graciela Aguilar-Peraza, 26, died on February 14, 2025, while held at the Estrella Jail in Phoenix, Maricopa County, according to the Maricopa County Sheriff's Office. The sheriff's office said she died of an overdose in the early hours of that day, after four people were taken for medical care around 1 a.m. following a suspected overdose. The sheriff's office said a spike in overdoses at the jail was likely caused by illegal drugs that got past security, and that it is reviewing ways to stop them.
