Gerardo Banda
Gerardo Banda, 23, was held at Colorado State Penitentiary in Fremont County, Colorado, when he died in August 2021. The Colorado Department of Corrections said another person held in the same unit assaulted him and that corrections officers secured the unit and gave him medical aid. He was taken to a hospital in Cañon City and then flown to Penrose Hospital in Colorado Springs, where he was pronounced dead.
