Gerald B. Cummings Jr.
Gerald Cummings Jr., 57, died on December 11, 2021, at the Idaho State Correctional Institution, a state prison south of Boise. Staff responded to a report of an altercation in a housing unit in the early hours of that Saturday and found him unresponsive. The Idaho Department of Correction said his injuries appeared consistent with a beating by his cellmate, who was arrested, and the Ada County Sheriff's Office is investigating the death. Paramedics and medical staff tried to save him, but he was pronounced dead about an hour after he was found.
