George Stevens
George Stevens, a Black man, died by hanging in Charleston, South Carolina, on July 13, 1877, the same day as David Pearce. The Batesville Guard published a report of the hanging on July 26, 1877. The reporting we have does not establish who carried out the hanging, where the two men were held beforehand, or whether it was a judicial execution.
