George Ortiz, 62, of Corona, died at the Larry Smith Correctional Facility in Banning, Riverside County, California, after a medical emergency in March 2026. Riverside County officials said the cause of the emergency was undetermined and that the sheriff's department and the county coroner's bureau are investigating. Officials said they initially found no signs of foul play. Two accounts give different dates of death, March 18 and March 20, 2026.
