George Johnson, 28, died in December 2017 in his cell at Jessup Correctional Institution in Maryland. The prison system spokesman and the medical examiner's office say he died by suicide, from asphyxiation by hanging. An officer on rounds found him unresponsive on the floor the night after a court hearing in his case.
