George Fuller
George Fuller, a Black man, was a tenant farmer near Oak Grove in Perry County, Alabama, according to one newspaper account. In late December 1900, while a constable and a deputy were taking him to the Perry County jail in Marion, masked men seized him from the officers at Fike's Ferry. The mob hanged him from a tree near a bridge over the Cahaba River. The newspaper reports say the mob took him from the officers but do not say whether the officers resisted, gave up the keys or handed him over.
Cause of death, as reported: Taken from custody and lynched. A newspaper dispatch says masked men took George Fuller from a constable and deputy on the way to the Perry County jail and hanged him from a tree near a Cahaba River bridge, and a South Carolina weekly says a group of citizens took him from officers after a hearing and hanged him.
