George Edgerly
George Edgerly, 79, was a former Lowell resident whose son Edward called him a wonderful father and said the family waited for him to come home for years. Edward said his father served in World War II after joining the Army at 17 and earned three Bronze Stars in Korea, and the VA was to provide an honor guard at his funeral. Edgerly was held at MCI-Shirley and died on September 18, 2007, at Health Alliance Hospital in Leominster after being hospitalized with pneumonia. The death was attributed to pneumonia followed by a staph infection that developed during the hospital stay.
