Died in jail or a lockup
Gary Lee White
Gary Lee White, 59, of Mulberry, died on April 18, 2019, after being taken from the Polk County Jail to Winter Haven Hospital that afternoon because of elevated potassium levels in his blood. According to the Polk County Sheriff's Office, he was conscious and answering questions when he was taken in, and he died that evening. The Sheriff's Office says he had an extensive medical history. The cause and manner of his death are pending a Medical Examiner's determination, and the Sheriff's Office investigation is ongoing.
