Garvie Roe Dixon
Garvie Dixon, 40, of Pilot Mountain, died on March 13, 2015 at the Surry County Detention Center in Dobson, North Carolina, where he was being held. The Surry County Sheriff's Office said he jumped from a walkway in his cell block and fell about 20 feet onto his head. The North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation was called in to investigate the death. The state health department's list of jail deaths records the manner of death as suicide.
