Garrett L. Lyles
Garrett Lyles, 31, died on June 22, 2021, at McCormick Correctional Institution in McCormick County, South Carolina. The South Carolina Department of Corrections said he was stabbed several times in a common area with what appeared to be a homemade weapon, and that a nurse and an officer gave him first aid before he died at the prison. The State Law Enforcement Division is investigating the death as a killing. Official records list the manner of death as homicide.
