Gabriel Carmen
Gabriel Carmen, 31, was held at the Mississippi State Penitentiary at Parchman in Sunflower County. On the evening of Saturday, January 18, 2020, officers said they found him hanging in his cell in Unit 29, and said the cell lock was jammed from inside by a pipe they had removed from the toilet. Sunflower County Coroner Heather Burton pronounced him dead at 7:21 p.m. and said the cause and manner of death are pending an autopsy by the state medical examiner. Burton said she spoke with his parents to answer their questions.
