Fuen

died 1902 · San Bernardino County Jail, San Bernardino County, California

Fuen, a Latino man, was held in the San Bernardino County jail in 1902. In a reminiscence by John H. Lightfoot published in the Las Vegas Age in 1940, a mob gathered at the jail in the afternoon and grew through the night. Lightfoot says the crowd broke the jail door open with a steel girder, and that the deputy on duty, who had refused to hand over the keys, opened the cell door when resistance seemed useless. The mob took Fuen to a bridge and hanged him.
