Fred Maynard
Fred Maynard, 60, was the father of two sons and grandfather of three granddaughters, and he worked as a truck driver until both his legs were amputated. In August 2023 he wrote to his former wife that his life was getting back on track and that he had found a new apartment. He died on August 19, 2023, while held at the Cuyahoga County Jail in Ohio. The county medical examiner, Dr. Thomas Gilson, said he choked on a sandwich and ruled the death accidental, and video shows that CPR started only after several more minutes had passed. His family says their questions were never answered, and outside experts called the care substandard.
