Fred Howard

Fred Howard was held at Folsom penitentiary in California when he got away from the prison. A Placerville dispatch printed in The Herald-Advance reported that he was killed in a fight with a posse near Pilton Hill in July 1903. The same report said a second man who had left Folsom was wounded in that fight.

Cause of death, as reported: Killed by staff. A Placerville, Cal., dispatch reports that a posse killed him in a fight near Pilton Hill after he escaped from Folsom penitentiary.
