Fred Hopt

Fred Hopt, also known as Welcome, was executed on August 11, 1887, when a five-man firing party shot him with rifles in the yard of the Utah penitentiary, about four miles west of Salt Lake City. The Griggs Courier, in its August 19, 1887 issue, described the scene.

Cause of death, as reported: Executed by the state

Reported by: Utah penitentiary (the agency that held him). The only account of how this person died comes from the agency that held him.
