Frank Tyson
Frank Tyson, 53, went into the AMVETS club in Canton, Ohio, in April 2024 and asked someone to call the sheriff. Canton police responded, and after a struggle officers took him to the ground and handcuffed him on his stomach. According to his family and body camera footage, he told officers at least seven times in one minute that he could not breathe while an officer had a knee on his back. He died at a Canton hospital, and the Stark County coroner ruled the death a homicide, listing cocaine, alcohol and cardiopulmonary arrest as contributing causes. Two former officers have pleaded guilty to misdemeanor charges, and sentencing is pending.
