Frank Rowland
Frank Rowland was held in the Rockport, Indiana jail in December 1900. On December 23, a mob of about 500 men broke into the jail with picks and iron bars, took him from his cell to the courthouse yard, and tied a rope around his neck. The Vernon County Censor reports that the mob hanged him from a tree and then fired shotgun, pistol and rifle volleys into his body. The Wausau Pilot reports that a confession was obtained from him in the courthouse yard.
