Died in jail or a lockup
Frank Romero
Frank Romero was one of ten men taken from the New Orleans parish prison in March 1891 by a mob that broke through the doors and hanged them. The record I have gives no details of his life beyond his name. The coroner, Lemoniere, ruled that the men died at the hands of unknown parties. The sheriff was not at the prison when the crowd arrived.
Cause of death, as reported: Taken from custody and lynched. Coroner Lemoniere's verdict was that the men died at the hands of unknown parties after a crowd forced the New Orleans parish prison doors and took them out to be lynched.
Reported by: Coroner Lemoniere (medical examiner or coroner).
