Frank Heidelberger
Frank Heidelberger was shot and killed by a guard on August 19, 1871, in Nashville, Tennessee, according to a report in the New Orleans Republican published the next day. The paper said the shooting followed an altercation between Heidelberger and the prison warden. The report places the shooting before Heidelberger had entered the state prison.
