Frank C. Moniz
Frank C. Moniz, 41, of New Bedford, died on January 5, 2023 at the Bristol County House of Correction in Dartmouth, according to the Bristol County District Attorney's Office. Staff found him during medication rounds and gave emergency care before he was taken to Saint Luke's Hospital in New Bedford, where he was pronounced dead. The District Attorney's Office said he died by apparent suicide by hanging and that an autopsy was being conducted. The New Bedford Light reported that he was found in his cell on January 4 and that he had not been considered a suicide risk when he was moved to the facility the day before, a point the sheriff's office has not explained. The sheriff's office has opened an internal review of security and health care.
