Died in jail or a lockup
Frank Biles
Frank Biles was a man from the Nez Perce reservation who was being held in the Asotin jail. According to newspaper accounts published in August 1896, a mob of about thirty men came to the jail at around 11 at night and demanded the keys. The sheriff refused to hand them over, and the men took them from him by force, unlocked Biles's cell and removed him. The newspapers report that the mob then hanged him from a fence corner on the night of August 19, 1896.
