Frank Bates
Frank Bates was being held in the jail at Centerville, Texas, when a mob broke in on the night of April 4, 1910, and hanged him. According to the El Paso Herald, the jailer had been wounded earlier in a failed escape attempt. A son was also hanged that night but was cut down before he died, according to the same account.
