Fran Gregory Portillo-Zapata, 53, from Venezuela, was held at the Karnes County Immigration Processing Center and admitted to North Central Baptist Hospital in San Antonio on Sept. 30, 2026. ICE says he died there on Oct. 29, 2026, after suffering from severe sepsis, acute pancreatitis, and end-stage kidney disease. The official cause of death is pending further medical examination.
